Footballer Onandi Lowe cleared of drug charge

Jamaica foolball ace, Onandi Lowe, has been cleared by the Northampton Crown Court of being part of a drug smuggling ring. Lowe, 31, was accused of an attempt to possess more than 2lb (1kg) of crack cocaine when he allegedly signed for a package that was reported to contain drugs. Lowe told the jury he accepted the package as a favour for a friend and did not know its contents. Mr Lowe was released by First Division club Coventry City at the end of last season.
